This section of our site contains some myths, stories, poems and ballads either directly related to the Kerrs or describing events involving members of the Kerr family. I have included here the wonderful ballad written by James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd called 'The Raid of the Kerrs' and the 2 well known poems concerning the taking of Ferniehirst by the English in 1523 and the retaking of the castle by French troops in 1549 written by the Jedburgh poet Walter Laidlaw. Additions will be made to this section as discoveries are made.
The Raid Of The Kerrs is now available as a CD read by Bob Lawson, Curator at Ferniehirst Castle if you are interested in a copy e-mail Bob for details
